For three days ZOETROPE hosts the video installation DECOLONISE: SCREENS IN LOOP, including six screens with programs curated by the BCK team. 41 short films are screened in total.
In addition, #5BCKFS hosts an audio installation curated by Our Stories, an oral history project of migration to Greece in the 1970s and 1980s, and Queer Athens, a bilingual podcast interview series that shares the stories and experiences of Greek LGBTQ+ people from the 1960s to the present day.
Για τρεις συνεχόμενες μέρες το ZOETROPE φιλοξενει την βιντεοεγκατάσταση DECOLONISE: SCREENS IN LOOP, που συμπεριλαμβανει έξι οθόνες με προγραμματα επιμελημένα από την ομάδα του BCK. Συνολικά προβάλλονται 41 ταινίες μικρού μήκους.
Παράλληλα, στον χώρο λειτουργεί ηχητική εγκατάσταση επιμέλειας του Our Stories ένα project προφορικής ιστορίας μετανάστευσης προς την Ελλάδα, τις δεκαετίες 1970 και 1980, και του Queer Athens, μια δίγλωσση σειρά συνεντεύξεων (podcasts) που μοιράζεται ιστορίες και εμπειρίες Ελλήνων ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ ατόμων από τη δεκαετία του 1960 έως σήμερα .
FUTURE ARCHIVES OF PAST WARS | SCREEN 1 | 53’
SCREEN 1 consists of a series of video art, animation and hybrid documentary films, of Greek and international origin, exploring the field of war and the role it played in colonialism, either by re-using archival material or by creating new material that reflects its long-term effects.
Η ΟΘΟΝΗ 1 αποτελείται από μία σειρά ταινιών βιντεοτέχνης, animation και υβριδικού ντοκιμαντέρ, ελληνικής και διεθνούς προέλευσης, που ερευνουν το πεδίο του πολέμου, τον ρόλο που έπαιξε στην αποικιοκρατία, είτε επανα-χρησιμοποιώντας το αρχειακό υλικό, είτε δημιουργώντας νέο υλικό που αποτυπώνει τα μακροχρόνια αποτελέσματα του.

BODY POLITICS | SCREEN 4 | 64’
SCREEN 4 consists of a series of video art and hybrid documentary films, that explore the notion of decolonisation in feminine – and not only – bodies. This program invites us to consider both the centrality of gender to colonialism, and to decolonization, both of which were considered peripheral to the larger struggles against colonialism, from cis-heteropatriarchal normativity.
Η ΟΘΟΝΗ 4 αποτελείται από μία σειρά ταινιών βιντεοτέχνης και υβριδικού ντοκιμαντέρ, που εξερευνούν την έννοια της αποαποικιοποίησης του θυληκού – και όχι μόνο – σώματος. Αυτό το πρόγραμμα μάς καλεί να εξετάσουμε τόσο την κεντρική θέση του φύλου στον αποικισμό, αλλά και την στην αποαποικιοποίηση, τα οποία θεωρήθηκαν περιφερειακά στους μεγαλύτερους αγώνες ενάντια στην αποικιοκρατία, από την cis-ετεροπατριαρχική κανονικότητα.

SCREEN 2 consists of a series of video art and hybrid documentary films, both international and contemporary, that propose the creation of a space for aesthetic practices in relation to the landscape, articulated from the position of the colonized individual, rather than from the position of the colonizer.

Screen 5 consists of a series of short documentaries, animation and experimental films that explore the rhetoric of the colonizers past and present, the attempts of reconciliation and the efforts of the First Nations’ people of Oceania to reclaim the original names of their ancestral land and promote their stories and culture.

SCREEN 3 consists of a series of video art and hybrid documentary films, exploring the tourism industry, which functions as a form of neo-colonialism. Visitors can choose which elements of the country and culture they want to exploit and locals transform into people who look like themselves, but who act and believe differently as they learn to market their place and identity.
Η ΟΘΟΝΗ 3 αποτελείται από μία σειρά ταινιών βιντεοτέχνης και υβριδικού ντοκιμαντέρ, που εξερευνούν την βιομηχανία του τουρισμού, η οποία λειτουργεί ως μια μορφή νεοαποικιοκρατίας. Oι επισκέπτες μπορούν να επιλέξουν ποια στοιχεία της χώρας και του πολιτισμού θέλουν να αξιοποιήσουν, ενω οι ντόπιοι μεταμορφώνονται σε ανθρώπους που μοιάζουν με τον εαυτό τους, αλλά που ενεργούν και πιστεύουν διαφορετικά καθώς μαθαίνουν να εμπορεύονται τον τόπο και την ταυτότητά τους.
